Have you lost your love of the pickup? Maybe you're tired of the same look, and design trucks have been using for years. You want something fresh, exciting, and innovative. Something that will spark that love affair with the American pickup. Well, the 2020 Ram 1500 has you covered. It's different from other trucks. It offers you the performance you expect and the luxury that's completely unexpected. In fact, Cars.com named the 2020 Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn/Limited the Luxury Car of the Year. This was above not just other trucks, but every other car, crossover, and SUV on the market. Including European sedans and Japanese design. A truck has never won that award before, but that is just one of the many awards (and reasons) why the 2020 Ram 1500 is unlike any other pickup you've driven before. So come see it and experience it for yourself at Derrow CDJR.
There are plenty of trim options available on the 2020 Ram 1500. With each trim, you can customize the Ram to better fit your liking. All of this, in addition to several packages designed to help alter the look and feel of the pickup, so it is just right.
The base MSRP for the 2020 Ram 1500, though, is $32,145. This is what the Tradesman Quad Cab rear-wheel-drive pickup will run. At the top of the trim list is the Limited 4x4 Crew Cab, with an MSRP of $57,265. In case you're wondering what the difference between the crew and Quad Cab is, while both are four-door designs, the Crew Cab has a slightly larger back row, while the Quad Cab is slightly smaller. Not that the Quad Cab has a small rear seat. Far from it. But if you're driving around with four adults with longer legs, you might want to consider that Crew Cab design.
Your needs for a pickup will be different from the next person. Perhaps you just want the height of a truck, but you're not interested in an overpowering truck. If that's the case, you might be interested in eTorque. Or maybe you are interested in something that can maximize your towing or payload potential. With several engines to choose from, there is one with your name branded on it.
The base engine in most of the models is the 3.6L Pentastar V6 with eTorque. This engine will give you a nice 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. The eTorque feature is a design that replaces the traditional alternator on your truck's engine. Standard alternators pull energy off of the engine block; the eTorque design instead pulls energy off the truck's wheels when you brake. This energy is then stored in a local battery. With the stored energy, it can then be used to help boost torque when climbing up hills while pulling a trailer or when first accelerating. It helps give you more towing potential, all without tinkering with the engine itself (this feature is also one of the reasons why it won the Green Truck of the Year Award).
Maybe you like the idea of a V6, but you also want more towing power. Well, when that's the case, check out the 3.0L EcoDiesel V6. There's nothing like a diesel engine when it comes to fuel efficiency and towing capacity. Diesel doesn't burn as quickly as regular gasoline, so it won't have the same horsepower, but because it does burn longer, it ups the torque to impressive heights. That is why the EcoDiesel engine will give you 260 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque.
The legendary Hemi V8 comes in two flavors on the 2020 Ram 1500. You can get it straight out of the box. Or you can have it include the eTorque feature. Because eTorque numbers are not consistent (it does require you to generate more power through braking), it does not impact the displayed horsepower and torque numbers. However, it does impact the towing capacity. Both the 5.7L Hemi V8 and the Hemi V8 with eTorque offer 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque.
You're going to be able to tow just about whatever you want with any engine on the 2020 Ram 1500. If you want a speed boat or a moving trailer, you can use any of the engines offered. If you have something bigger you want to move, like a camper or something bigger than a speed boat, you will want to go with the EcoDiesel or the Hemi V8. If you're not sure which engine is right for you, our staff here at Derrow CDJR can help you out.
The base V6 engine will allow you to tow up to 7,730 pounds (there are specific trims and add-on towing features you'll want to consider with every engine to max out towing potential, so make sure to talk to us about what exact truck specifications you need to hit optimal towing).
On the 5.7L Hemi V8 (without eTorque), your towing takes a nice jump up to 11,610 pounds. With the 3.0L EcoDiesel V6, those towing numbers move even higher with a max towing of 12,560 pounds. However, if you want the cream of the crop when it comes to towing numbers, the 5.7L Hemi V8 with eTorque is where it's at. It has a max towing set at 12,750 pounds. As you can tell, by simply adding eTorque to your Hemi, you will increase your max towing by 1,140 pounds (this is because eTorque can boost your available torque by up to 130 lb-ft).
As one of the safest vehicles on the road, not just for pickups, but for all vehicles, it proves you can have a performance-driven pickup that takes safety seriously. After all, as the IIHS Top Safety Pick, it is designed to keep not only everyone in your truck safe but everyone around you on the road safe as well.
The 2020 Ram 1500 comes with front crash prevention as well as Adaptive LED Projector Headlamps. If you're looking to tow, it has an available Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Path and Trailer Detection. This way, there is no more guessing you have room to change lanes while towing. The safety feature will scan your blind spot and the zones next to you and behind you to keep you and the rest of traffic safe while you're towing.
The Ram 1500 comes with a lane departure warning to keep you in the right lane and help guide you back into the correct position if you move towards the lines on the road. The Ram 1500 also offers Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go. This feature will detect the changing speed of vehicles in front of you. This way, instead of constantly flipping your cruise control on and off, it will speed up or slow down to keep a safe distance between you and the other vehicles. Combine those with Forward Collision Warning and Advanced Brake Assist, and you have the recipe for a truly safe pickup.
Parking a pickup isn't always the easiest thing to do. Perhaps the space is tight in the parking lot, or you're attempting to parallel park in a small space with cars behind you, waiting for you to pull in. With the available Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist, your Ram 1500 will actively give you guidance when parking. It will help you with gear position, brake, and acceleration while also automatically controlling your steering.
